Tenancy Agreement Checks

It is important you understand the processes involved when moving into your new home, and when you move out again at the end of your tenancy.  If you have found your home via Plym Uni Homes (and you are a University of Plymouth student) we can explain your tenancy agreement to you before you sign it.  Please contact the office to make an appointment or you may book an appointment via the student portal (available to current University-managed hall residents).

If your landlord takes a deposit from you, it is a legal requirement that they put it in a government-backed tenancy deposit scheme.

Right to Rent Checks

Private landlords are required by law to check that all new tenants have the ‘right to rent’.  We would suggest that you are prepared when viewing properties by taking along the required documents.

How to Rent

If you are signing an Assured Shorthold Tenancy with a private landlord, they must issue you with a copy of the How to Rent guide for your information.
